Having started working in the industry at a young age, I was hooked on the fabulous world of wine without much persuasion. My journey has me meandering through all styles of wine, and what a sweet ride it has been thus far.
The opportunity to be a Steward at the RNA Qld Wine Show 2012 was certainly an eye-opening and rewarding experience. I was also humbled to be awarded the Most Supportive Social Media Commentator at the Queensland Wine Awards 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2017.
The wine industry is one in which so many people are so generous with their time and knowledge and for this I am very grateful.

For nearly two years from 2014 to late 2015 I presented a segment each Friday afternoon on Brisbane's 4BC with drive time presenter Ben Davis. Each week we'd discuss a range of topics and wines finishing with my two "Bang for Buck" picks for the week.
My time spent tasting many wines has grown an intrigue and interest in winemaking and an opportunity presented itself 2012 enabling me to make a Shiraz and a Shiraz Grenache blend with fruit from the South Burnett region. I backed this up in 2013 with a Granite Belt Cabernet as well as a Cabernet Mataro blend - a Cabtaro! The learning curve has been immense and something I've relished. It certainly gives an insight into the number of "micro" decisions made by winemakers to ensure they get the right outcome. In 2014 my hands were dirty again and I made a Shiraz Mataro. A barrel of Granite Belt Syrah was made in 2015 and quickly sold out!
I have reviewed 6000+ wines with subscriptions and readership numbers always continuing to grow. Many thanks to the marketers, winemakers and wineries for sending samples for me to review - your support is sincerely appreciated.
Among the many opportunities the wine industry has offered me through various tastings and MCing wine dinners, a highlight was certainly the opportunity to MC the VIP marquee at the 2017 Coonawarra Vignerons Cup for 730 guests from across the country. The day itself was highlighted by tremendous community spirit as the achievements of the previous twelve months were celebrated.

In November 2021, my first book hit the shelves. Co-authored with Brett Hayes, Grenache - Barossa Grown is a complete guide to the variety. With the foreword written by James Halliday, this is a book for all wine lovers.
